Male Student-Athlete: Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Greenberg is using his brain for success
By Chris Goldberg
Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 5/8/08
Jacques Greenberg said he’s learned great empathy by growing up with a younger sister who has significant disabilities.
That has led the Plymouth Whitemarsh senior to pursue a career in neurology and psychiatry.
“I have a sister who is mentally retarded so I have always had to learn as much as I can about mental illness,” said Greenberg. “The brain controls everything. I want to go into psychiatry eventually, so I want to understand the brain.”
Greenberg, a four-year letter-winner and a key starter on defense for the Colonials, earned early admittance to Brown University’s pre-med program and will study cognitive neuroscience.

5/8/15 – Boys’ lacrosse: @MTLacrosse defeats @penncrestblax in big win for Lancaster County
Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 5/8/15
Staff Report
The game had no bearing on the District 1 or District 3 seedings, but visiting Manheim Township enjoyed a monumental victory today when it rallied past Central League co-champion and defending PIAA champion Penncrest, 14-13, in overtime.
Davis Carr scored with 0.4 seconds left in regulation and 2018 Grayson Sallade (five goals) won it in overtime as the Blue Streaks improved to 18-2 Friday. The win came just a day after Manheim defeated Hempfield, 17-11, to win the Lancaster-Lebanon League crown.
Penncrest led, 13-11, with a minute and 30 seconds to play, when Manheim asked for a stick check on Penncrest face-off specialist Zach Groses. The call was an illegal stick and a 3-minute unreleasable penalty was called.
Manheim capitalized on the call as Sallade scored with 14 seconds left. Aaron Kager (17 of 23 face-offs) won the face-offandafter a time out, Carr scored with 0.4 seconds to go.

The high five has been part of the sports landscape for nearly a half-century, a transcendental gesture of triumph and achievement.
Thursday night at Henry J. Bernat Field, the Spring-Ford Rams executed their own unique version of the high five, winning a fifth straight Pioneer Athletic Conference boys lacrosse championship with an 8-7 overtime victory over Owen J. Roberts.
These teams have met in every PAC-10 final and the Rams have won six of the nine years.
Dan Cassidy gathered in a groundball at the Spring-Ford defensive end, bolted up field at full gallop and laid a perfect pass on the stick of Jake Hvazda to the left of OJR goalie Brandon Calle. Hvazda did the rest, one-timing the ball into the net to set off a raucous celebration that included, you guessed it, a torrent of high-fives.
“Dan Cassidy did everything on that play,” said Hvazda, who finished with two goals and three assists. “He was hauling down the field and I just caught it and shot it. Danny was responsible, getting that ground ball and setting me up. I guess you could say I was in the right place at the right time.”

The Bullets came in ranked third in Division III in scoring defense and looked every bit the part on their home turf, keeping the CC’s top offense off the board until senior Logan Panaccione’s man-up goal with 5:33 remaining in the fourth quarter. By then Gettysburg had opened up a 9-0 lead thanks in large part to Tommy Heller, who finished with five goals and an assist after a CC Tournament-record nine points in Wednesday’s semifinal victory over Swarthmore.
