Staff Report

The game had no bearing on the District 1 or District 3 seedings, but visiting Manheim Township enjoyed a monumental victory today when it rallied past Central League co-champion and defending PIAA champion Penncrest, 14-13, in overtime.

Davis Carr scored with 0.4 seconds left in regulation and 2018 Grayson Sallade (five goals) won it in overtime as the Blue Streaks improved to 18-2 Friday. The win came just a day after Manheim defeated Hempfield, 17-11, to win the Lancaster-Lebanon League crown.

Penncrest led, 13-11, with a minute and 30 seconds to play, when Manheim asked for a stick check on Penncrest face-off specialist Zach Groses. The call was an illegal stick and a 3-minute unreleasable penalty was called.

Manheim capitalized on the call as Sallade scored with 14 seconds left. Aaron Kager (17 of 23 face-offs) won the face-offandafter a time out, Carr scored with 0.4 seconds to go.

That forced overtime. Kager won the overtime face-off, and Manheim Township held possession and set up Sallade for the game-winner.

Chris Augeri added three goals for Manheim and Caton Johnson posted 13 saves.

Drew Hanna and Alex Bonnett each had four goals and two assists and Matt Young had two goals and an assist for the Lions.
