Men’s recruit: Penn State gets commitment from Smithtown West (N.Y.) sophomore attackman Keenan

Smithtown West (N.Y.) sophomore attackman Ryan Keenan has verbally committed to play Division I lacrosse at Penn State University.

College Choice: Penn State University

Club Affiliation: Team Smithtown, NY

Major lacrosse honors: Started four games as a freshman and appeared in all games on Varsity, had 8 goals 10 assists; Inside Lacrosse’s No. 17 on Sophomore Young Guns List; Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip Camp; Rising Sophomore Suffolk vs Nassau Game.

Academic honors: Honor roll

Intended major: Leaning toward Business or Education

Why did you choose Penn State? “I chose Penn State because of the excellent coaching staff led by Coach (Jeff) Tambroni, Coach (Peter) Toner, and Coach (Chris) Doctor. I felt welcomed by the players on the team and after my visit I knew it was where I wanted to be. I am very excited to play on the new field in three years and have the chance to use all the new lacrosse facilities at Penn State.”

What is Smithtown West’s outlook for the spring season? “This year our goal remains the same and that is to win a County Championship, Long Island Championship and State Championship for Class A.”
