Friday’s boys’ high school highlights; Upper Dublin, Holy Ghost remain undefeated

Leighton Young and Ben Winebrake each had three goals and two assists to spark a balanced attack as visiting Upper Dublin opened its Suburban One American Conference season today by downing Upper Merion, 13-7.

Michael Rama added two goals and two assists for the Cards (3-0) while Pete Vernacchio had two goals and one assist.

Upper Dublin goalie Jack Deragon (seven saves) and defenseman JP Petrucci (one goal) led a staunch defense that allowed UD to open up an 11-1 lead in the 3rd quarter.

Trevor Kupecky had four goals and an assist and Mikey Zadroga added three goals for the Vikings (2-1, 1-1). Troy Minnich made 12 saves.

Holy Ghost Prep 9, Archbishop Ryan 7

Brett Incollingo and Kevin Moses scored fourth-quarter goals to lead Holy
Ghost Prep to a win over host Archbishop Ryan. The win capped a 3-0
week for the Firebirds to start the season.

The game was tied 7-7 after three before Incollingo scored off a feed from
T.J. Romano and then Moses added the insurance goal.

Ryan’s Tim Taylor had two goals and two assists and became the school’s
career goals-scored leader with his 116th. Mark Ostrasweski had 16 saves for
Ryan.

Romano led Ghost with three goals and two assists. Incollingo had a goal,
two assists, 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers.

Germantown Academy 7, Dwoningtown East 5

Reid Weber scored three goals and Drew Gill added a pair while Jake Adoni made 13 saves to help the Patriots topple the Cougars.

Neshamony 13, Springfield-Montco 5

S: 0-2 Colin Higgins 18 saves
Player Statistics

Matt Magdelinskas had five goals and Alex McKenzie added three goals to lead the Redskins to the non-league victory.

Martin Wargon led the Spartans with two goals and Colin Higgins had 18 saves.
