Wissahickon twins Ashley and Aubrey Bossert have both committed to play Division II lacrosse at Bloomsburg University.
Ashley was a first-team Suburban One American Conference pick in 2009 when she had 30 goals and 30 assists at atta
ck. Aubrey also was a first-team all-league pick and a Phillylacrosse.com Honorable Mention selection that scored 64 goals at at
tack. Both are members of the National Honor Society.
Ashley plans to major in Physical Therapy.
“I am taking Anatomy in school and it’s really interesting,” said Ashley, who also was a starter on a Trojan field hockey team that went 20-2 and advanced to the PIAA tournament. “I’m into sports so I think I can help people in physical therapy.
“I loved the team,” she added, of her visit to Bloomsburg to meet the Huskies lacrosse squad.
“Plus, it has a really nice campus and the academics were a perfect fit for me,”
Ashley is optimistic about Wissahickon’s chances in 2010.
“We graduated a lot, but we have a lot of new players and I think we’ll have a good season,” she said. “Hopefully, we can make it to the playoffs.”
Aubrey, who plans to major in Education or Exercise Sports Science, also will play field hockey for Bloomsburg’s national powerhouse. The Huskies recently captured their fourth straight NCAA Division II national championship and have won 16 national titles in all.
“One of the reasons I chose Bloomsburg is because I could play both sports,” said Aubrey, who was a First Team All-State pick at center back for Wissahickon’s hockey team. “It’s a great school and when I went for my official visit, I saw that (Bloomsburg) had everything I wanted.”
Aubrey said she is happy her sister chose the same school. She noted that each had the same five schools on their wish list.
“It just worked out that way,” Aubrey said. “Ashley committed in November and I committed a week ago. We’re rally close and we do everything together. It would be hard not to go to the same school. It’s a big school, so we still have opportunities to meet other people.”
