Lower Merion senior long stick midfielder/defenseman Alek Klincewicz has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Loyola University.
Klincewicz was an Honorable Mention Central League pick in 2010 for the Aces, who finished fifth in the District 1 tournament and advanced to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) tournament. Klincewicz has played club lacrosse for Seven Nations and competitive Edge and also played for Team Philly.
Klincewicz, also a standout freestyler on the Lower Merion swim team, plans to major in Journalism and minor in Political Science at Loyola.
“The school has a really good balance of academics and a great lacrosse program,” said Klincewicz. “It’s small, with about 5,000 kids. It has a great campus.
“Politics is something I’ve always been interested in. I want to be active in the community; I think it’s a role every American should have to play.”
Klincewicz said the Aces – who graduate many key players, including Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year Jordan Wolf – will be young in 2011.
“It will be a growing year for us, but I look forward to passing on my skills to a lot of the young players,” he said. “
