Villa Maria Academy midfielder Jordan Christopher has signed a letter of intent to play next year at the University of Connecticut.
Christopher, an all-Catholic Academies Association pick last season, chose the Storrs college for its campus and program in kinesiology.
“The one thing that really drew me was their program for kinesiology,” she said. “They have one of the top programs in the nation.
“The campus is just perfect. It’s a good fit. I loved it from the minute I walked on it. There is a lot of stuff to do. Also, the coach (Angela McMahon) was amazing throughout whole process. “
Christopher said she wants to major in kinesiology and remain involved in athletics.
“My dad’s pretty involved in fitness and I like playing sports,” she said. “It’s always been around me.”
Christopher, who had 20 goals and 18 assists last year, also is excited about the start of the scholastic season. Villa Maria, the defending league champion, returns a large number of seniors and is looking forward to competing with arch-rival Merion Mercy for a league crown.
“Since my freshman year, I can remember everyone getting really excited for the Merion game,” she said. “It’s always been a rivalry.
“We’re going to be a pretty experienced team and our goal is to win the league again and compete in districts We have 13 seniors.”
