Beau Jones scored the game-winner with 38 seconds to play as host Germantown Academy shocked Episcopal Academy, 3-2, today in Inter-Ac League boys’ lacrosse.
The win created a logjam atop the Inter-Ac as EA – ranked fourth in the PA Media Rankings – fell to 4-2 in the league and 9-6 overall. GA is 1-2 and 5-5. Haverford School (3-2) and Malvern Prep (2-2) also have two losses.
Steve Oppenheimer had a strong game in goal with 12 saves for the Patriots, making a key save on John Gormley in the closing seconds. Andrew Sih also had a clutch goal in the third quarter for GA to tie the game at 2-2. Matt Lerman had nine saves for the Churchmen and Andrew Gordon scored both goals.
Hill School 9, Academy of the New Church 1
Dave Brown and PJ Mara each had two goals and an assists as the Blues (4-6) earned the non-league win. Eric Davidheiser soaked up six ground balls for Hill while Chris Howell won 60 percent of his face-offs and Tyler Himes and Duncan Saunders combined for six saves behind a solid defense.

Dan Kinek and Mic Debellis each scored three goals and Travis Schmidt added two goals and three assists to lead the Green Hornets to the easy Lehigh Valley League win.
