Henderson rising senior attackman Max Siskind has followed his family’s lead in making a verbal commitment to attend Towson University for 2010-11.

Siskind, a first-team All-Ches-Mont League and third-team selection in 2009, will be the fifth member of his immediate family to attend Towson. His father, Jules (Class of 1979), played lacrosse at Towson where he met Max’s mother, Susan. Also, brother Zach is a recent Towson grad and sister Ariel is a Towson student.

“My dad played there and I love the Baltimore area,” said Siskind. “When I was a kid I used to go to all the games; it’s always been my dream as a kid to go there. There’s a lot going on, and it’s a hotbed for lacrosse.”

Siskind, who is undecided on a major, also considered Penn, Drexel and Villanova. At Towson, he will join fellow Philly rising senior recruit Andrew Mongeluzzi (attackman) of Lower Merion

In 2009, Siskind led the Warriors with 37 goals and 36 assists, helping Henderson reach the District 1 playoffs.

“We had a good year,” he said. “We made the playoffs. I think next year we’re going to be pretty good. We have two returning starters on attack and the defense should be pretty good. I don’t think anyone in the league will scare us.”

Siskind also credits his development to the Mesa Fresh 2010 club team.

“That team is probably the main reason I’m going to Towson,” he said. “We’re a talented team, and I owe a lot of my success to the coaches and the exposure we get there.”
