Council Rock South midfielder Matt Morton heads the list of incoming recruits at Binghamton University’s men’s lacrosse team.

Binghamton announced its incoming class for the 2009-10 academic year. Included in the group are eights in-state players, two out-of-state players and one junior college transfer.

“We are pleased to announce our incoming class,” head coach Ed Stephenson said. “Last year, we witnessed the graduation of our third recruited senior class, and no doubt the overwhelming draw for them and their teammates has been Binghamton University’s nationally-acclaimed academic reputation.

“However, our new outdoor venue, the Bearcats Sports Complex, has become another remarkable draw for prospective student-athletes. Based on this year’s recruiting success, I believe this combination of a first class academic institution and athletic facility will enable us to reach our goal of national prominence in the years to come.”

From the Hudson Valley Region, Binghamton landed attackers Jack Doherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Tyler Perrelle (Mahopac, N.Y.) as well as midfielder Shane Warner (Tompkins Cove, N.Y.). Defender Eric Vondunn (Massapequa, N.Y.) and midfielders Nick Benenati (Seaford, N.Y.) and Matt Moynihan (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) hail from the Long Island Region. The Bearcats also signed a pair of players from the Western New York Region–attack Matt Springer (Hamburg, N.Y.) and goalie Kraig Heston (Rochester, N.Y.).

Morton (Churchville, Pa.) and defender Mike Florenzo (Clarksville, Md.) are the two incoming players from out of state. Goalie Dan Sallazo (Yorktown, N.Y.) arrives as a junior, having starred at Herkimer Community College the past two years.

The following is a recap on Morton:
