Salaesianum School senior defenseman Ryan Kilpatrick has been named the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association boys’ lacrosse Player of the Year.

Kilpatrick led the Sals to the state championship and was named US Lacrosse All-American and also Under Armour All-American as well as All-State.

Kilpatrick, an All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last year who also competed in the ESPN RISE Warrior 40 All-Star Game, is a native of West Chester and played club lacrosse for the Duke’s L.C. He has signed a Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at North Carolina.

His selection as Player of the Year gives him two such Delaware honors – he also was named Delaware’s football Player of the Year. Kilpatrick rushed

Kilpatrick, a running back, led the defending state champion Sals to a 9-3 record and a berth in the Division 1 semifinals. Kilpatrick finished the season with 1,663 yards rushing and 21 rushing touchdowns and in his career had over 5,000 total yards and 45 touchdowns.

Kilpatrick received his lacrosse honor Thursday at the All-State lacrosse banquet.

“It was awesome to receive both awards,” he said. “I could have never done it, however, without the help of amazing teammates and coaches. It was a great honor but couldn’t compare to the feeling of winning the state championship in lax.”

The Sals toppled defending champion Tower Hill, 7-5, for the state title two weeks ago.
