Perkiomen Valley senior long stick midfielder Dave Duryea has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Ursinus College.

Duryea helped the Vikings finish 12-7and advance to both the Pioneer Athletic Conference and District 1 playoffs last year. He plays club lacrosse for Twist.

A High Distinguished Honor student, Duryea plans to major in Computer Science and minor in Film. He said Ursinus is only 10 minutes from his home.

“I chose Ursinus because It has a good academic program,” Duryea said. “Eventually, I want to combine visual movie making and computers.

Duryea also was impressed with Ursinus coach Jamie Steele.

“Coach Steele is turning that program around,” said Duryea. “They are on the rise and he is recruiting a lot of good players.”

Ursinus started 7-0 last year and finished a solid 8-5 under Steele, the former coach at Widener who was in his first full year after serving as interim coach for nearly a season.

Duryea said that PV graduated a lot of seniors last year, but should remain a force in the PAC-10.

“We lost a lot of seniors last year,” he said. “But we should still be strong in the league.”
