From Press Release

Penn State junior goalkeeper Austin Kaut (Springfield-Delco) was selected as the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Lacrosse Player and Defensive Player of the Year by a vote of the league’s seven head coaches.

Penn State completed the sweep of top honors as the Nittany Lions’ head coach Jeff Tambroni was voted the league’s Coach of the Year and freshman attacker TJ Sanders was selected as the Rookie of the Year in a unanimous vote. Kaut also earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in a unanimous vote by the conference head coaches.

Kaut, a three-time All-CAA honoree and 2011 CAA Rookie of the Year, helped Penn State post the best goal-against average (6.95) among all Division I men’s lacrosse programs. The junior keeper owns a 62.9 save percentage, which is ranked second in the nation, and averaged 11.6 saves per game. Kaut helped the Nittany Lions achieve a No. 9 national ranking with wins over nationally-ranked teams, such as Denver, Bucknell, and Drexel.

Tambroni led nationally-ranked Penn State to a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play and the Nittany Lions’ third-straight appearance in the CAA championship. Top-seeded Penn State, now 12-3, advanced to the CAA Championship game with a 10-7 victory over fourth-seeded and defending champion Massachusetts on Wednesday. The victory was a first in CAA postseason play for PSU and Tambroni.
