Bayard Rustin senior attackman Conner Annunziato has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Goucher College.

Conner Annunziato log:

Conner Annunziato

High School: Bayard Rustin

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Attackman

College Choice: Goucher College, MD

Club Affiliation: NL1

Major lacrosse honors: 2011 All Ches-Mont Honorable Mention

What will you major in/study? English/Education

Why did you choose Goucher? “When I stepped onto the campus at Goucher I felt an immediate connection. When I went for my over-night, everyone on the team was extremely nice and friendly, even the juniors and seniors. Watching them play was also a great experience because I could see myself fitting into their system. Also, the coaches are just phenomenal, and I really look forward to playing for them.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the upcoming season? “This year our team looks good. Coach (Jason) Wolensky has been working hard this off-season, getting guys in the weight room and bringing in a new offensive style and coach, that looks to be simple but effective. Everyone is really excited about this year. Our team is made up mostly of seniors, and that is special in itself because we have such good chemistry from playing together for the past four years. Overall we are really looking forward to turning some heads this season.”

Additional comments: “I have to thank Coach Wolensky and Coach (Ryne) Adolf. Coach Wolensky has brought in an enthusiastic and can-do attitude that makes our guys want to play for him. He has helped me both on and off the field in more ways than one.

“Coach Adolf has been a great help to me personally, staying after practices to do one on ones with me, which is huge because he was a great defenseman at Maryland. It’s just not that often that players get to have that kind of teaching experience.

“My brother Kyle is always willing to have a catch so I can check my stick. Most of all I have to thank my Dad. He has really been the driving force behind all of my success, keeping me humbled all the way through. I know that without him, I wouldn’t be going to such a great school like Goucher, and I probably would have given up on myself a long time ago.”
