Episcopal Academy senior midfielder Hallie Snyder has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Colgate University.

Snyder, who has already traveled to China on a Youth Leadership Forum, chose the Hamilton, N.Y., is considering a career in foreign relations.

“Their programs in international relations and business and economics are excellent,” she said.

“Athletically, I wanted to go to school where I could have an impact on the program. From meeting the coaches and current players, I feel I can have a positive influence.”

Snyder clearly has an impressive academic resume. She was named to the Cum Laude Society (top 10 percent of her class) in the fall and earned the Richard S. Cross, Jefferson Scholar Award for the combination of academic and athletic achievement as well as service to the school.

One of Snyder’s service projects was the Soccer Initiative, which provides soccer equipment to children in impoverished communities in six different countries.

She also received awards in Spanish and American History, starred in soccer and served as manager for the ice hockey team. In December she was honored by the Delaware County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

Snyder currently is preparing to help Episcopal defend its Inter-Ac League championship. EA, armed with a bevy of returnees, has high expectations.

“I am ecstatic about our season,” she said, “We didn’t lose many seniors so it will be easier for us to pick up where we left off last season and understand each other on the field. We won the title the past three years so everyone is out to get us.”

Snyder also is excited to play Central League power Strath Haven at the Katie Samson Festival on April 25. She resides in Media and is friends with many of the Panther players from her years in Nether Providence Youth soccer.

“We are extremely excited to play them,” she said. “On a personal note, it’s the high school I would have gone to and I have a lot of dear friends on the team who played with me in youth soccer.”
