Springfield-Delco’s Tom Lemieux, who guided the Cougars to three PIAA championships and consistent spots in Public School National Rankings, stepped down today.
Lemieux said it was professionally and personally time to step aside and would expand on the decision in coming days.

Lemieux, the Springfield HS athletic director, led Springfield to PIAA crowns in 2016, 2017, and 2025, posting a 273-75 record over his 15 seasons as head coach. Lemieux was also an assistant at Springfield for 5 years before taking the helm.
This year’s Springfield squad shared the Central League crown with Radnor and defeated Radnor for the District 1 3A title before falling to eventual champion La Salle in the PIAA semifinals.
Lemieux’s squads also reached the state finals in 2023 and won District 1 crowns in 2015, 2017, 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2026. His Cougars also shared the Central League title with Radnor in 2024.
The 2025 Cougar squad finished 25-1 and ranked second in the nation among public schools.
Lemieux was named Phillylacrosse.com Coach of the Year both in 2016 and 2025. He was also honored as Coach of the Year by the Delaware County Times in 2015 and 2017.
Lemieux is a graduate of Cabrini College with a B.A. in Sociology and a Master’s in Special Education. As a player at Cabrini, Lemieux led the Cavaliers to two straight conference championships as a Captain. He received All-Conference honors all four years and was named Player of the Year in his conference and Male Athlete of the Year. He ended his career as the all-time leading scorer. In 2007, Lemieux was the first-ever men’s lacrosse player inducted into the Cabrini College Athletic Hall of Fame. Lemieux was the offensive coordinator at Cabrini College before coaching at Springfield.
A graduate of Comsewogue High School on Long Island, New York, Lemieux was a member of the New York State Championship Team that was ranked second in the nation. He earned All-League Honors as a junior and All-County Honors as a senior.
