Honoree Questions:
How do you define leadership in athletics and school?
- Quinn: “To me, leadership is defined as setting a consistent example for teammates and classmates through effort, attitude, and accountability. In athletics, it means staying composed under high pressure, being a shoulder your teammates can lean on, and taking accountability when you inevitably make mistakes. In school, it means staying disciplined academically, helping classmates when they need it, and having good relationships with teachers and peers.”
How do you balance academics, service, and athletics?
- Quinn: “As a three-sport high school athlete, the biggest challenge in balancing academics, service, and athletics is time management. I try to plan my week out in advance so that I can make sure my sports don’t interfere with my schoolwork. Athletics has helped me a lot with this because it has taught me how to manage pressure, stay focused, and maintain structure while having a busy schedule.”
What are your future goals?
- Quinn: “My goals for the future are to continue to excel in lacrosse and academics at Mount St. Mary’s University. I’m also looking forward to developing as a teammate and student in a program where I can contribute on and off the field. I plan to major in biology on a pre-nursing track. I’m interested in healthcare and eventually completing an accelerated nursing program after my undergraduate studies so I can become a registered nurse.”
Radnor assistant coach Maggie Tydings on Caroline: “Caroline is one of the most well-rounded players I have ever coached. Caroline is not flashy; she is incredibly selfless and doesn’t stat pad – in fact, she did not even want to play on senior day because she wanted to give her teammates opportunities to shine. She puts the team first all over the field – her effort on defense deters opponents from scoring even if she doesn’t register the caused turnover, her well-timed cuts and off-ball play fuel our offense even if she doesn’t get the goal or assist. Caroline translates this leadership by example to the classroom. A straight-A Honors Student, Caroline works hard in every facet of her life. Knowing Mr. Pansini very well, as he was a college teammate of my father’s at Johns Hopkins, I believe Caroline truly embodies Michael’s selfless and hard-working nature.”
