The New Balance Philly Burn 2028 team turned in an outstanding performance at the All-America Underclass Tournament, bringing home the Burn Division Championship after an impressive weekend against some of the top regional all-star teams in the country.
Philadelphia finished 3-1 in pool play, earning victories over Southwest 7-2, Long Island 5-3, and Washington, D.C. 7-1, with its only loss coming against Baltimore 7-5. Despite finishing in a three-way tie with Baltimore and Washington, D.C., Philadelphia earned the No. 1 seed heading into the championship bracket.
The playoffs provided an opportunity for the group to prove it belonged at the top. Philadelphia opened bracket play with a 5-3 win over New Jersey before earning a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Baltimore, avenging its only loss of the weekend. In the championship game, the Burn put together its most complete performance, defeating Upstate, NY 10-4 to capture the tournament title.
While the results were impressive, what stood out most was how quickly this group came together. The roster featured players from a variety of high schools and club programs across the Philadelphia area—many of whom had never played together before the weekend. In just a short time, they developed into a cohesive team, playing with confidence, trust, and an unselfish style that allowed everyone to contribute. Their willingness to put the team first and compete for one another was evident throughout the tournament and ultimately led to a championship performance.
