Girls’ HS previews: Perkiomen School (Independent), Suburban One’s Lower Moreland, Upper Moreland

March 19, 2026 by Chris Goldberg

One in a series of HS previews for the 2026 season

Phillylacrosse.com,. Posted 3/19/26

Perkiomen School
League: Independent
Head Coach: Ramona Walters, 1st season; Assistant Coach: Louisy Roest, 11th season
2025 Record: 5-5
Opener date & opponent: 3/19 @ Friends Central
Key returner: Delaney Ickes
Coach’s Outlook for 2026: While we have a handful of returners, the majority of our team is new, which presents both challenges and opportunities, as we work to establish our identity. Early in the season, our focus will be on building chemistry, developing fundamentals, and creating a culture built on hard work and accountability. This group has already shown a willingness to learn and support each other, and I’m excited for this next chapter of Perk lacrosse.”

Lower Moreland
League: Suburban One American Conference
Head Coach: Steve Wittmer (12 years at LM, 4th year as HEAD COACH); Deb Lawlor ( 4th year at LM), ALICIA HOEFERMANN ( 1st year at LM)
2025 Record: 7-11
2025 Team Honors: Qualified for the Playoffs
Key returners: Mia Rosala (Midfield), Roya Rosala (Midfield), Emma O’Connell (Defense), Maddie Broderick (Midfield), Alex Gliwa (Defense).
Key newcomers: Erin McCormick (Goalie), Haylee Huber (Attack), Julia McNesby (Attack)
Coach’s Outlook for 2026: “When the off-season began, we faced a significant hurdle as our roster numbers weren’t where we wanted them to be. While that kind of uncertainty can shake a program, it had the opposite effect on this squad. Instead of focusing on who wasn’t there, the girls who were there—our dedicated core—decided to lean in. This group didn’t just take the challenge in stride; they used it as fuel. Without a massive bench, every player has taken the challenge head on, continue to put in everything they got, they show up, they keep each other accountable, and they put in the work. The connection that we are seeing as a coaching staff truly transcends the sport, we are seeing a tight-knit culture where everyone on this team truly has each other’s backs. The leadership within this group has been the anchor. They aren’t just leading drills; they are building a family. That chemistry is our ‘X-factor.’ This team is ready to prove that while numbers aren’t what matters, it’s the connection behind them that wins games.”

Upper Moreland
League: Suburban One American Conference
Head Coach: Kim Frantz (10th Year); Assistant Coaches: Lindsay Byrne (1st year) and Emma Hurley (2nd Year)
Last Year’s Record: 15-9 overall (State Playoffs second round)
Key Returners: Molly McCann (Goalie, Sr.), Maggie Brophy (Defense, Sr.), Ella Gould (Attack, Sr.), Keiley Hawk (Defense/Mid, Jr.), Madeline Cox (Defense/Mid, Jr.), Keira Hess (Mid, Jr..), Leah King (Defense, Jr..), Eva Gorrell (Mid, So.), Bridget Hess (Defense/Mid, So.)
Players to Watch: Kendall Hurley (Defense, Fr.), Mia Hood (Mid/Defense, Fr.), Madelyn Frantz (Defense, Fr.), Maci Griffith (Attack, Fr.), Giana Morrison (Attack/Mid, Fr.), and Kourtney Malone (Attack, Fr.),
Season Outlook: “While we had some key players graduate last year, we are excited for a strong freshman class to come in, complimenting our strong varsity returners for early contributions this season. We look to be competitive in our conference and hopefully into the playoffs. Our goal this year is to be a strong team playing together as one unit.”
