Springfield-Delco completed a tough three days with an 11-10 home victory over defending Central League champion Radnor Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Allie Hunter, who earned an assist in each of the first three periods, scored twice in the final quarter for the Cougars. She got the final goal of the game with 50 seconds to play on an eight-meter shot as Springfield (4-1, 3-0, ranked No. 6 in 3A PA State Rankings) earned its third consecutive league win while handing Radnor (4-1, 2-1, Ranked No. 3) its first loss of the 2025 season.

Springfield dropped a 9-7 decision to defending New Jersey state runner-up Haddonfield Sunday afternoon.

“We didn’t play well as a team,” Springfield head coach Keith Broome said. “They have a very good team, and we just didn’t play well.”

Monday’s practice is one all of the Cougars players and coaches will remember for some time.

“It was pretty intense,” Broome said.

Tuesday’s game was more of the same in terms of intensity.

“You know what it’s like in these Central League games,” Broome said. “This year should be no different. One-goal games. Everyone playing hard all of the time.”

Radnor had the better of the play in the first period Tuesday, with senior Marin Mooney tossing in two of her four goals as the Raptors claimed a 3-1 advantage.

Katie Keffer (two goals), Kylee O’Donnell (two goals, one assist) and Maddie Kane (three goals), who was assisted by O’Donnell, scored in the first four minutes of the second quarter to put the Cougars ahead before Mooney notched her third goal. Anna Reger (two goals) put the Raptors back on top, but O’Donnell scored 25 seconds before halftime to make the score 5-5 at the break.

“They’re a tough team, and we were having trouble with their zone defense,” Broome said. “Kathleen (Geiger, Springfield assistant coach) was telling everyone that they had to work hard to find the open girls.”

Keffer and freshman Mia Wainwright gave Springfield a two-goal lead in the third period before Radnor’s Taylor Murphy (two goals) answered in the final minute of the quarter.

“We were doing a good job on Murphy,” Broome said. “Kat Shandley was really playing tough against her.”

Things really opened up in the last 10 minutes of play. After Hunter put the Cougars up by two goals, Ertel, Murphy and Mooney got goals in a two-minute span as the Raptors went back ahead.

Freshman Eva Lemieux, who teamed with Wainwright on seven draw controls, and Kane scored as Springfield earned a one-goal lead with 4:50 to play.

“Working hard in today’s game after (Monday’s) intense practice was what it was all about,” Kane said. “Winning a game like this should be a real confidence booster for us.”

Just under one minute later, Murphy drilled in an eight-meter shot and the score was 10-10.

Springfield gained possession on a foul on the draw, and after some tense moments for the Springfield faithful, it was Hunter earning a free position, which resulted in the winning goal.

“We knew how good their goalie was last year, but this is a different goalie and I didn’t know much about her,” Hunter said. “I had been missing my high shots, so I knew I had to use a low shot if I wanted to score.

“They beat us last year, so we knew it would be a game we wanted to win this year.”
