Men’s D1 roundup: Parmer (Manheim Twp.), Gillin (Haverford School) lead Delaware to 13-12 triumph over Utah; St. Joe’s falls

In his first collegiate game, Bennett Parmer (Manheim Township) scored four goals, including the game-winner with under a minute to play in the visiting University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team’s 13-12 upset of No. 18 Utah (1-1).

Brendan Powers, Jason Kolar, and John McCurry each added two goals and Cory Capri and Jack Kolbe potted their first goal in a Delaware uniform. LSM Patrick Gillin (Haverford School) tallied his first career goal and added three caused turnovers and one groundball.

Sacred Heart 12, St. Joseph’s 11

Trailing by as many as five goals in the second half, the Hawks fell just short in its comeback bid on Sweeney Field.

Mark Watters and Jesse Jason each scored three goals for St. Joe’s, Jason adding an assist for a team-high four points. Richie LaCalandra and Ben Dutton each scored in their Hawk debut while Levi Verch registered six ground balls and added two caused turnovers and Liam Quinn (Downingtown East) had three groundballs.
