USA Lacrosse announces Thomas (Pottstown) to its Board of Directors

USA Lacrosse has announced that Gina (Oliver) Thomas (Pottstown) Tim Corrigan, Fielding Jamieson, Jennifer Russell and Gina Thomas have been named to its Board of Directors. Each of the four began two-year terms on August 1.

Thomas is the head women’s lacrosse coach at the University of Cincinnati. Thomas has led the Bearcats program since 2013 and has led the school to double-digit wins each of the last three seasons, a first in program history. An All-American player at Ohio State, she previously served as an assistant coach at her alma mater and Duquesne. A native of Pottstown, she won two World Cups with the U.S. women’s senior team, earning All-World honors at the 2009 championship in the Czech Republic and was the player of the match in the semifinals in helping the U.S. to the 2013 title in Canada.

Thomas, a 2001 Pottstown grad who led the Trojans to their first Pioneer Athletic Conference title in 2000 and was a member of the National Tournament champions that year, was a standout for the Ohio State women’s lacrosse team from 2002-05, and is one of the most outstanding players in program history. She was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010 in her first year of eligibility.

Thomas, who helped lead the Buckeyes to their first NCAA Tournament appearances in 2002 and ’03, was a four-time First Team All-American Lacrosse Conference and IWLCA All-Region selection as well as a 2004 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist. She earned IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse Second Team All-America accolades in 2003 and was named to the third team in 2004. Oliver was a three-time Inside Lacrosse All-American, with a first team nod in 2003 and third team honors in 2004 and ’05. She was the 2002 ALC Rookie of the Year and earned ALC Player of the Year honors in 2003, leading Ohio State to its first ALC championship.

She ended her career as Ohio State’s career leader in ground balls (236) and caused turnovers (201) and owns the Top 4 marks for caused turnovers in a season, with a school-record 53 in 2003, as well as three of the Top 7 totals for ground balls in a campaign.

After her time as a Buckeye, Oliver continued her lacrosse career as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team. She was part of two Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup titles, winning gold in 2009 and ’13. Following the 2009 FIL World Cup, she was named to the All-World Team, a recognition awarded to the 12 best players in the world.

Following graduation in 2005, Oliver spent the 2006 and ’07 seasons as an assistant coach for the Buckeyes. She also spent time on staff at Duquesne before being named head coach at Cincinnati. She also served a three-year term as vice president of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association (IWLCA).

Corrigan is an Emmy winning VP of Production focused on NBA and all professional basketball on ESPN/ABC. The Charlottesville, Va., native a 1986 graduate of Notre Dame where he was a three-year letterwinner for the Irish in lacrosse.

Jamieson is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Tipt Ventures, a new venture capital fund dedicated to investing at the intersection of women and sports. Previously, Jamieson led innovation efforts at R/GA Ventures, including serving as the Managing Director of Trailblazer Venture Studio, and at Comcast NBCUniversal. An Atlanta native, she is a 2011 graduate of Yale where she was a captain on the women’s lacrosse team.

Russell is a Director of Principal and Major Gifts at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer care and research. A native of Andover, Mass., Jen was an All-American midfielder at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she was a finalist for both the Tewaaraton Award and Honda Award, and Captain her senior year in 2010. She was selected to participate in the U.S. national team program beginning in 2008 and won gold medals with the U.S. Women’s senior team at the 2013 (Oshawa, Canada) and 2017 (Guildford, England) Women’s World Cup, as well as at The World Games in 2017 (Poland). At the 2017 World Cup, Jen was one of twelve players to garner All-World honors.
