Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse Interim Head Coach Corey Shaffer has announced the hiring of Marc Poust (Hatboro-Horsham) as a new Men’s Lacrosse Assistant Coach.
Poust recently wrapped up a stellar playing career for Division III national power Stevenson where he was the Mustangs starting goalkeeper for four of his five seasons on the team. He was a two-time USILA All-American, earning third team honors in 2021 and honorable mention in 2022. Poust earned IMLCA All-Region honors in 2021 and was a two-time All-MAC Commonwealth second team selection. He also was just as strong in the classroom after being named a USILA Scholar All-American in 2021.
“I am very grateful to Coach Shaffer for giving me the opportunity to help lead his tremendous group of young men and eager to uphold the standard of excellence within our program. Go Bears!”
Ursinus – ironically – opens its season at home on Saturday, February 18 vs. Stevenson at noon.
“We could not be more thrilled to welcome Marc to the Ursinus Lacrosse family,” Shaffer said. “His experience as a player at the highest levels of Division III has set him up to be an impactful coach and mentor for our program. He will be a major influence on our goalies and defense.”
Poust capped his career at Stevenson with 492 saves, ranking third all-time in program history, and was a member of two MAC Commonwealth Championship teams. He earned his bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Stevenson in May 2022. Poust earned Stevenson’s Fighting Heart Award in 2021 which is given out to the student-athlete who has overcome the odds and showed perseverance in their life, on or off the field. He was also featured in USA Lacrosse Magazine’s UNTOLD series this past May.
“Being from the area and competing against Ursinus throughout my playing career, I have admired the character and culture instilled here in Collegeville for quite some time,” Poust said. “The foundation of our program is built on high-character student-athletes who navigate all aspects of life with a chip on their shoulder and are willing to put the work in, both on and off the field, to be successful.”
