Syracuse senior Delaney Sweitzer (Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) has been added to the Watch List for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award, which honors the top female and male lacrosse players in the nation. The list of nine additions to the Watch List were announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday, March 20.
Sweitzer ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.558) and third in goals-against average (7.72). In addition, she is 10th nationally in saves (106) and seventh in ground balls per game (3.58). Sweitzer has reached double figures in saves four times this season, including a career-best 15 save performance against Virginia Tech. The ACC has honored Sweitzer four times as its Defensive Player of the Week.
The Hatfield native joins fellow Orange Megan Carney, Meaghan Tyrrell, Kate Mashewske, Emma Tyrrell and Emma Ward on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
The field for this year’s Tewaaraton Award will be narrowed to 25 women’s and 25 men’s nominees on April 20. Five women’s and five men’s finalists will be announced in early May and will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 1
