Honoree Questions:
How do you define leadership? “Leadership is centered around respect. If nobody has respect for you, your instruction and direction will be taken for granted. Once people value your opinion, they will begin to listen to your advice. That being said, the first step to becoming a leader is making connections with your colleagues and gaining an understanding of each other.”
How do you balance academics, service, and athletics? “Balancing these components has never been easy, but they all have their own time and place. Academics always come first. School hours are strictly for education and not athletics. The same goes for athletics, practices and games are perfect times to forget about any stress and focus on the sport I am playing. Service falls nicely into academics and athletics. Outside of school and sports I help with lacrosse trainings and tutoring through National Honors Society. During other free time, I spend hours at local service events such as In Ian’s Boots and Mitzvah Circle.”
What are your future goals? “My future goals are to study pre physical therapy in hopes of going to graduate school and becoming a physical therapist. I want a successful lacrosse career at the University of Florida where we win championships and I make lifelong friends. If I can achieve all of this, I will be set up with a job coming out of school so I can begin my life in the real world.”
