Delco Christian seeks a head boys’ lacrosse coach as it looks to launch its own program.
Delco Christian, located in Newtown Square, had some players compete with Devon Prep’s team when it had a co-operating agreement until 2021. Delco Christian’s new athletic director, Kevin Wallace, who stepped down as head men’s lacrosse coach at Eastern University this year after 12 seasons, said the school is committed to building the new program.
“Due to the increased student interest at DC, we feel the time is right to add Boys’ Lacrosse as a school sport,” said Wallace. “We hope to be added as an affiliate member of a conference soon since our conference (Bicentennial Athletic League) doesn’t have boys’ lacrosse. We hope to announce our intended conference and coach very soon.”
Delco Christian Head Coach Opening
Delaware County Christian School athletics is seeking to hire an energetic and committed Head Upper School Boys Lacrosse Coach to start play in spring 2024. DC has a history of lacrosse and we hope to bring it back to the community after a number of years of being a CO-OP with Devon Prep. We seek candidates who have knowledge and passion for lacrosse, who value sportsmanship and safety, and who are committed to the development of their athletes and the overall program both on and off the field.
Additionally, coaching candidates must have strong communication skills and display professionalism at all times. Under the leadership of the Upper School Boys Lacrosse Coach, team(s) must honor the Lord and represent DC well.
Qualifications:
● Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
● Faith must be aligned with the what we believe as described on the school’s website
● Must be able to communicate a Christian-view of athletics
● Must know and understand the skills and techniques of Lacrosse and effectively teach and communicate those skills and techniques to High School athletes
● Able to plan and execute team practices
● Able to organize and coach the team on game days
● High school, college or professional Lacrosse playing and/or Lacrosse coaching experience preferred
Responsibilities:
● Run daily practices
● Develop rosters, provide game plans and oversee effective execution of those plans.
● Willingness to drive the team van to practices and/or games as needed
● Other duties as assigned
Season: Spring 2024
