The Blak Widow 2026 team won Trilogy’s Veteran’s Day Classic Boys Lacrosse Red Division championship last weekend at Iron Peak Sports in Hillsborough, N.J.
Blak Widow’s defense led with some big caused turnovers and ground balls, many coming from Julian Funk and Liam Price. Goalie Rocco Rigney made some key stops throughout the day as well which allowed the team to push transition and capitalize on key offensive opportunities including man-ups. BW allowed the least amount of goals scored which proved to be the tie breaker for earning the 2nd seed in the Championship game. The entire defensive end came up big and helped avenge a loss from earlier in the day.
Offensively, Jack Kaunert led with some huge goals down the stretch along with the game winner in the semifinals, a 4-3 win over True Philly. Gavyn Moyer and Keenan Munn also made some big plays and finished on some big opportunities in the championship run as Blak Widow toppled Black Bear, 5-4, for the crown.
The entire day was a whole team effort from the defense locking it down, to transition and middies getting the ball up the field, faceoff and wings winning key ground balls, and the attack scoring key goals to hold a lead. Coach Mike Sullinger (Head Coach at Alvernia University) and Coach Jake Snyder (Head Varsity Coach at Governor Mifflin) did a great job leading the team in close games to finish with the Championship win.
With this being the first season for the Blak Widow 2026 squad, the team is looking for a couple more players to fill out the roster for the summer season. Any players interested can reach out to Director Jake Plunket (Head Coach at Muhlenberg College) @coachplunket@gmail.com.
