How do you define leadership: “Leadership is showcased in many different forms, and I have learned throughout my sports and academic career that you don’t have to be the loudest, most vocal player on the team to still be a leader on and off the field. One of the biggest attributes I find important in being a leader is having the ability to listen and adapt. Hearing input from your teammates, coaches, and classmates and being able to make changes from their feedback can be one of the best ways to improve and be successful. I also believe that good leaders must model how to respect different perspectives and include them in decision making.”

How do you balance academics, service, and athletics? “Being a multi-sport athlete while taking rigorous and challenging courses leaves me with little to no free time during the school year. I have learned this year to take advantage of my resources at SCH that have helped me improve my time management skills. Discipline has been a huge aspect I have focused on that has helped me excel academically and be active in my community. Putting in extra study time during my lunch period or staying late after classes are finished to meet with teachers has allowed me to stay on track with my work. The COVID pandemic has also helped me learn that service doesn’t always have to be something that takes loads of time and travel. Spending 20 minutes of my day to make PB&J sandwiches or leaving school for a day to perform science experiments for younger children were easy ways for me to serve my community while staying safe during the pandemic.”

What are your future goals? ”My future goal lacrosse-wise is to continue to grow and learn as a player and as a person. I have adapted to playing at a highly competitive level with persistence and flexibility, and I have seen myself improve a great deal from the beginning of the season. I am looking forward to our upcoming PAISAA games and cannot wait to see what the future holds for our Varsity team next year. Academically, I still do not know where I will be attending college, but my goal is to pursue a health science major route, whether it is becoming a Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, or Physician Assistant.”

High school coaches from the 5-county area, Delaware, South Jersey, the Lehigh Valley and Central PA may nominate a player (junior or senior) for the Pansini Law Group Scholar-Athlete of the Week by e-mailing us at golax@phillylacrosse.com
