NXTsports announce addition of second girls’ summer Showcase in 2021

February 10, 2021 by Chris Goldberg

From Press Release

The Atlantic Showcase will be held at the state-of-the-art 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington, DE on June 23rd. The Girls Philly Summer Showcase — originally scheduled for June 23rd — will move to July 13th at United Sports in Downingtown, PA.

The success of last year’s event along with the growing popularity of girls individual showcases made the decision to add a second summer Showcase an easy one.

“Our past two showcases have maxed out and we have had to turn players away. We are excited to answer the call to make more opportunities available to players hungry to participate in a NXT Showcase,” said Kate Henwood, VP of Girls Lacrosse.

Athletes can expect the same elite experience they’ve come to know from a NXT Showcase. The 76ers Fieldhouse is one of the region’s top facilities. It is home to two turf fields including a full-sized indoor fieldhouse—allowing athletes to stay cool and beat the heat. The facility is also home to the Philadelphia 76ers NBA G League affiliate.

The day will be structured similarly to any other NXT Showcase. Athletes will compete in three games in front of the college coaches who are in attendance or tuning in on the livestream. Each game will be filmed, streamed, and distributed, along with rosters, to NCAA coaches across the country.

Along with exposure, the educational component of NXT Showcases is an important part of the experience. Athletes will take part in position-specific skill development sessions throughout the day led by the NCAA or professional coaches on staff. A recruiting talk will also take place during the event. The discussion will give parents and players insight into the ever-changing recruiting process and what steps athletes need to take to land at their dream school.

The Atlantic Showcase is open to any player in the 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 graduating classes looking to get to the next level. Due to the date change, any athlete currently registered for the Girls Philly Summer Showcase will have the option to attend either event. Kate Henwood will reach out directly to registered participants regarding that process.
