Host Southern Lehigh, Emmaus boys, girls to compete April 27 in 4th Relentless Hope Cancer Awareness Game

The 4​th​ Annual Relentless Hope Cancer Awareness Day is an event in which the Emmaus Hornets and Southern Lehigh Spartans lacrosse teams play to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and HEADstrong Foundation, respectively.

It will be held on April 27th at Southern Lehigh High School. This year the event will be held on a Saturday and will include both the boys and girls JV and Varsity teams.

On Saturday April 27, the Southern Lehigh Spartans will be hosting this years Relentless Hope Lax Match. Together, the teams are working to fight cancer by incorporating an Awareness Day as part of the game.

The rematch continues as a long time, friendly rivalry where the coaches and players from both teams know each other very well, both on and off the field.

In addition to outstanding lacrosse action, the event will include various fundraising activities. Throughout the game, prizes of big-ticket raffle items will be awarded. Sheets of raffle tickets will be sold at the game for $10 or $20.

Additionally, food and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Each team is selling t-shirts to raise funds for their cause, both before the event and at the game.

The Emmaus PanCAN t-shirt is sponsored by local businesses. Emmaus PanCAN t-shirt is purple and white. Southern Lehigh’s HEADStrong shirt is gray and is sponsored by several local businesses in the Southern Lehigh area.

In addition to this, each team will wear accessories designed for the event to reflect their cause. During the event, spectators will have access to information tables staffed by PanCAN and HEADStrong representatives.

Southern Lehigh is sponsoring the Headstrong Foundation. The HEADstrong Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization founded in 2006 by Nick Colleluori to improve quality of life for cancer patients and their families. Nicholas “Head” Colleluori was a lacrosse player from Pennsylvania diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a blood cancer affecting the lymphatic system. At the time, he played Lacrosse at Hofstra University.

Emmaus is sponsoring the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a nationwide network dedicated to creating hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer through research, patient support, community outreach and government advocacy. The organization raises money for direct private funding of research and also advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

The event starts with JV girls playing @ 10:00 am followed by the JV boys @ 11:30. The HEADstrong ceremony will begin at 12:45.

featuring local students singing/playing the National Anthem, a ceremonial faceoff for the boys and draw for the girls done by individuals in our community who are currently battling cancer.
The Varsity girls will play at 2:00 followed by the Varsity boys at 4:00.
