Recognizing the 2017 Phillylacrosse.com Honorable Mention Coaches of the Year

Boys’ coaches

Chris Bates, Episcopal Academy – In his first year as a high school coach following a long college career, he guided the Churchmen to a second-place (tie) finish in the Inter-Ac and semifinal appearance in the Inter-Ac Invitational.

Bruce Garcia, Central Bucks East – He guided the Patriots to the Suburban One National Conference championship and a berth in the PIAA Class AAA semifinals after a key win over La Salle.

Tom Lemieux, Springfield-Delco – He led the Cougars to a 22-3 record, and District 1 and PIAA Class AA championships.

Paul Stankewicz, Henderson – He led the Warriors to a 20-4 record, and second-place finishes in the Ches-Mont League and District 1 and PIAA Class AA tournaments.

Girls’ coaches

Keith Broome, Springfield-Delco – He guided the Cougars to a 20-5 record, and a berth in the PIAA Class AAA finals.

Mike St. Clair, Bayard Rustin – In his third year as head coach of the Golden Knights, he led Rustin (20-5) to the Ches-Mont League championship, just three years after the team had gone 2-16.

Pigeon Graham, Strath Haven – She guided the Panthers to the PIAA tournament.

Joe Tornetta, Owen J. Roberts – He guided the Wildcats to the PAC-10 championship, the District 1 Class AAA semifinals and the PIAA quarterfinals.
