March 21, 2017 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 3/21/17
This is one of a series of previews for the 2017 Philly lacrosse season

Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School (Blue Knights)

League: Wyoming Valley Conference

Head Coach: Catie Kersey, 15 years

Last year’s record: 17-4, #1 seed in WVC, won District II Championship, lost in first round of State tournament to Garnet Valley

Key returnees: Kate Romanowski ’17 (center, captain), Abby Straub ’17 (attack, captain), Mia Raineri ’19 (GK), Lexi Sokach ’17 (midfield), Julie Gabriel ’18 (midfield), Christina Kilyanek ’19 (midfield/attack)

Coach’s Outlook for 2017: “We’re looking forward to the 2017 season. We have a strong senior class and they will be surrounded by a strong group of underclassmen. The WVC continues to improve which is forcing us to work even harder – should be an exciting season in NEPA!”

The Hill School

League: Mid Atlantic Prep League (MAPL)

Head Coach: Shannon Summers, 4th year Head Coach

Last year’s record: 7-8 regular season w/ playoffs, 3-2 in league

Key returnees: Our Senior Class: Eileen Carmichael, Annie Carroll, Janet Chen, Amanda Dupell, Kathryn Dunn, Makena Hanson, Erin Kelly, Ally Maner, MaryKate Stone

Coach’s Outlook for 2017: “After only graduating two seniors last year and adding some strong new talent, The Hill Girls Lacrosse program looks to pick up where they left off last season. The returning skill level is high, so the trick to the season will be gelling the team together for one common goal. The coaches are optimistic that the program rebuilding is in the past and a strong team will emerge this season.”
