From Press Release and Staff Report

Stephanie Finley, a Sacred Heart Academy graduate who earned Inside Lacrosse Pre-season All-America honors, will lead James Madison into the 2015 season Sunday when the Dukes play at powerful North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. at 1 p.m.

Finley, who was the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Year in 2014, is also a co-captain for JMU.

Finley – a 2-11 All-Phillylacrosse.com pick – scored a team-high 44 goals while tallying 15 assists for 59 points in 2014. On the way to the Co-Player of the Year award, she set the single-season record for draw controls with 69 in 2014. The First Team All-CAA performer also earned CAA All-Tournament honors while being named a second-team member of the IWLCA All-South Region team. Finley notched ECAC Division I Women’s Lacrosse All-Star Second Team honors while pulling in First Team All-State University Division recognition.

Over the summer, Finley tried out for the U.S. National Team and was selected as a member of the 38-player roster along with JMU assistant coach Emily Garrity (Strath Haven), the 2009 Phillylacrosse.com Player of the Year and 2013 national champion with UNC.

Besides Finley and Garrity, JMU features other Philly grads, including junior defender Emily Pillion (Conestoga), freshman midfielder Haley Warden (Garnet Valley), the 2014 Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year; and freshman midfielder Elena Romesburg (Central Bucks West).
