Evan Wolf had four goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as host Lower Merion stunned Garnet Valley, 7-6, Thursday in Central League boys’ lacrosse.
John Williamson posted 17 saves for the Aces (6-6 overall, 5-3 league) and Paddy Black had a goal and two assists while Aaron Jaffe played a strong game at the face-off X.
James Spence made 15 saves and Mike Gerzabek scored three goals while the Cougars’ defense stood out in the Central League victory.
Pat Smyth, Zach Methlie, Jake Crowther and Dave Wasson helped Springfield-Delco (8-3, 5-3) shut out the Raiders over the last three quarters. Joe DeBernardi added two goals and Lucas Spence and Dan Wasson each had a goal and an assist.
Radnor’s Tom Meyers won 12 of 13 face-offs.
Penncrest 12, Strath Haven 7
Drew Hanna had five goals and an assist and reached the 200-point mark for his career as the Lions (11-2, 7-1) moved into sole possession of first place in the Central League. Zach Groses was a key for Penncrest by winning 15 of 23 face-offs.
Sam Mutz, Hunter Mazur and Jack Borbee tallied two goals twice each for the Panthers.
Conestoga 7, Ridley 6
Greg Taicher and Luke Taicher each scored twice and John Roulston made 10 saves while Tommy Sopko had a goal and an assist for the Pioneers (7-5, 6-2), who stayed in the race for first in the Central League.
Justin Monaghan had three goals for the Green Raiders (8-5, 4-4).
“Our goalie played great and we got a lot of goals out of riding and transition,” said Conestoga coach Brody Bush, who also praised the defense from Jack Reilly (one goal). “We played man and zone and through a few different looks and they had a hard time adjusting.”
Marple Newtown 20, Upper Darby 7
Billy Morgan (five goals, six assists) and TJ Reiley (three goals, two assists) each reached 100 career points and Alex Viola added four goals and an assists for the Tigers (7-7, 2-6).
Ryan Simpson scored three goals and dished two assists for Upper Darby.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 3, Penn Charter 2, OT
Mike Bown (two assists) fed Jack Lamb (two goals) for the game-winner in OT as SCHA claimed a hard-fought Inter-Ac League victory.
Matt Eckles posted 12 saves for the Devils.
Drew Gallant had two goals and Sean McKee made 17 saves while Gavin Tygh won 7 of 8 face-offs for Penn Charter.
La Salle 9, St. Joseph’s Prep 7
Brett Baskin had three goals and Chris Hladczuk added two goals and an assist as the visiting Explorers (8-2, 7-0) took over sole possession of first place in the Catholic League with the victory over The Prep (6-4, 5-1).
Conor Scafidi posted eight saves and Aidan Kerrigan added two goals while Zack Drake and Matt Clibanoff each had a goal and an assist for the Explorers.
Kevin Stump scored two goals for the Hawks.
Archbishop Ryan 5, Council Rock South 4
Austin Slawter had two goals and two assists and scooped 11 groundballs while JT Boyle posted 10 saves for Ryan.
Henderson 9, Great Valley 8
Dylan Teeter had two goals and an assist for the Warriors.
