Mike Risser scored with 1:14 left in overtime Tuesday to lift host Downingtown East to a 7-6 come-form-behind win over Hatboro-Horsham in the first round of the District 1 boys’ lacrosse tournament.
The Cougars (11-7) advance to play at fourth-seeded Springfield-Delco on Thursday. Springfield toppled West Chester East, 12-1.
Downingtown East was trailing 6-4 but Risser scored with 4:40 to play and Darien Vitelli later tied it with 1:40 left in regulation.
Risser had two goals and an assist and Will Umberger scored twice for the Cougars.
Chris Hammel tallied three goals for the Hatters (10-8).
Henderson 8, Owen J. Roberts 3
Nick Rizzo and Jack Twohig each contributed two goals and an assist and Eric Beren posted 14 saves to lead the 19th-seeded Warriors to the first-round win over the 14th-seeded Wildcats.
Jack Colt had two goals for OJR.
Abington 12, Strath Haven 11
Joe Lomady had four goals and Cameron Leech contributed three goals and five assists while Hunter Jones added two goals and two assists as the 16th-seeded Ghost Advanced.
Jack Borbee had four goals and an assist for the Panthers.
Central Bucks South 14, Perkiomen Valley 7
Dillon Kelly scored four goals and Jake Henze had three goals and an assist while Brendan McGrath added two goals, two assists and six groundballs and Kevin Witchey had eigtht caused turnovers and seven groundballs as the 12th-seeded Titans advanced.
Ben Minardi had four goals for PV.
Radnor 10, Marple Newtown 5
Drew Ryan scored four goals and Jack Norton had three goals to reach 100 for his career as the sixth-seeded Raiders advanced. Tom Meyers won 13-of-19 face-offs for Radnor.
TJ Reiley had two goals and an assist and Billy Morgan scored twice while Dylan Welsh had 13 saves for the Tigers.
