La Salle Lacrosse Head Coach Candace Taglianetti Bossell has announced the addition of nine players to the Explorer lacrosse family, who will join the squad in the fall of 2014. Five players hail from Pennsylvania, two players from New Jersey, and two from Maryland.
Rachel Ceplo (Delran, N.J./Delran) is a 5’3 midfielder from South Jersey, where she plays for Delran High School. The 5’3 midfielder is a two-time All-Burlington County All-Star, earning First Team honors as a junior in 2013. She was also an All-South Jersey Honorable Mention selection last season. She has scored 116 goals in her high school career. The two-sport athlete is also accomplished on the soccer field, earning First Team All-County last season.
Brittany Edwards (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) is a 5’6 attacker/midfielder who brings a strong scoring mind to the field, draining 156 goals in the past two seasons. She scored 68 as a sophomore and 88 as a junior, while adding 24 assists last season for 112 points. She also picked up 46 ground balls and controlled 109 draws as a junior. She is a two-time First Team All-League pick and earned both Honorable Mention All-America and Academic All-America honors as a junior. The three-sport athlete is also an accomplished on the basketball court as a Top 8 point guard in Pennsylvania and was also a district qualifier on the golf course. She will rejoin high school teammate Danielle Strang, a freshman on this year’s squad.
Lindsay Givens (Red Lion, Pa./York Catholic) is a 5’7 attacker from central Pennsylvania. Givens is a two-time Second Team All-York County pick. She drained 38 goals last season while providing a defensive spark with 20 ground ball pickups.
Rachel Harman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) is a 5’4 midfielder who brings a scoring threat to the Explorer squad. Harman drained 65 goals and recorded 25 assists as a junior in 2013 en route to earning Academic All-America, First Team All-Conference and PennLive Big 12 All-Star Team honors. She also earned Second Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore in 2012.
Hailey Leister (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) is a 5’5 attacker from Reading, Pa., who will bring another offensive option to the Explorer squad. Leister has scored 171 goals in three seasons including a career-high 103 goals as a junior in 2013. She also has 31 assists credited to her stat line. Leister earned 2013 Berks County League Attacker of the Year and US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America honors, and is a two-time All-Berks County First Team honoree.
Lucy Loughlin (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) will join the Explorers from the state of Maryland, following a four-year career at Bel Air High School. The 5’7 goalkeeper will provide the Explorers another option between the pipes, and brings a defensive mind having also played as a defender for her high school field hockey squad.
Kendall Lupinek (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) hails from Annapolis, where she helped lead her Broadneck High School squad to the 2013 state championship. The 5’5 attacker comes from a lacrosse family, with her sister Alexis currently playing D-1 lacrosse at UMBC. Lupinek also played field hockey, earning 2013 All-County honors as well as 2012 Midfield MVP honors and the Unsung Hero team award. She will rejoin high school teammate Abbey Meehan, a freshman this season.
Emily Martin (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) joins the Explorers from South Jersey, where she currently plays for Robbinsville High School. The 5’6 midfielder has scored 85 goals in three seasons so far while assisting on 60 more. She earned Colonial Valley Conference First Team honors twice and was twice named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Martin is also strong on the face-off and will be looked upon as a key player in controlling draws. The three-sport athlete has also lettered in both soccer and track.
Katie Stec (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) joins the Explorer squad from nearby Garnet Valley High School outside of Philadelphia. The 5’4 defender will look for time in the Explorer backfield. Stec also played basketball, earning team MVP honors and the Coaches’ Award.
