St. Mark’s (DE) junior midfielder Rhett Schweizer has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.
Rhett Schweizer log:
High School: St. Mark’s, DE
Graduation Year: 2015
Position: Midfielder, also do face-offs
College Choice: University of Delaware
Club Affiliation: Played on Team 302-2015s since 7th grade, also played with Silverbacks this past year
Major lacrosse honors: All-Star team at MVP and Hotbeds; 3rd team All-State
What will you major in/study? “I will most likely major in exercise science.”
Why did you choose the school? “UD is in a strong conference. Their coaches are well respected and their lacrosse program continues to be competitive. Academically, UD has a strong exercise science program. Besides this, I like that UD is close to home and I’m honored to be chosen from a Delaware high school and to have the chance to play D1 Lax.”
What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “We really came together as a team and were lead by strong seniors on attack and the defense end. We made it to semi-finals this past season. We will make adjustments and returners have a good chemistry in that we all respect each other, so I think we will be competitive this year. We have a difficult schedule so it will be challenging.”
Other comments: “I am thankful for my family. I am one of 5 kids in our house, and all 3 of my older sisters went to play D1 lacrosse, so now it’s my turn. Key people in my development early on, were Jason Motta and Rick Cobb. Coach Motta is my 302 coach and Mr. Cobb coached Wings youth lacrosse. Other people who helped improve my game over this past year were Keevin Galbraith and Coach Reynolds from St.Mark’s and Christian Zwickert from Silverbacks. I’m grateful for all of these people and for speed/athleticism that God blessed me with.”
Other schools considered? Despite other offers, in the end, I chose UD over Towson.
