Visiting Cabrini outscored Ithaca, 5-1, in the fourth period and earned a hard-fought 10-8 victory over the 15th-ranked Bombers today.

The 14th-ranked Cavaliers improved to 5-3 with the Blue and White’s third win over a USILA Top 20 ranked opponent. Ithaca fell to 6-2.

Despite netting the first goal of the game, Ithaca trailed 3-1 after the first period. The Bombers answered with three of four goals in the second stint for a 4-4 deadlock at half.

Cabrini fell behind 6-4 just south of eight minutes into the second half. Freshman Evan Allvord (Kennett) scored his first career goal broke a string of three consecutive Ithaca goals, cutting the Blue and White’s deficit to 6-5 with 4:31 to play in the third. With a goal with just under 90 seconds left in the period, Ithaca rebuilt its two goal cushion with 15 minutes to play.

The Cavaliers tallied twice to knot action at 7-7, but junior Jake Long (Upper Dublin) went unassisted in giving the Bombers an 8-7 lead at 9:32.

But Cabrini’s Andrew Protenic (West Chester East) scored 3:17 later to tie it and Anthony DiSanzo put his team ahead for good minutes later. Bobby Thorp (Cherokee) then added an insurance tally for Cabrini.

Damian Sobieski (Avon Grove) led the Cavs with three goals and Corey Elmer had a goal and an assist and five groundballs while Chris Treat (Haverford High) made 15 saves in a strong effort. Anthony DiNenno (Avon Grove) won 11 of 21 face-offs and grabbed six groundballs.

Long had two goals and an assist for Ithaca.

Junior LSM Bill McCabe (Spring-Ford) forced a career high three turnovers, all three coming in the decisive fourth quarter.

Gwynedd Mercy 11, Richard Stockton 5

Multiple goals from four players helped Gwynedd-Mercy pick up a win over Richard Stockton.

Senior Roy Bakeoven (Archbishop Ryan) totaled five points on four goals and an assist. Fellow senior Dustan Mangin (Archbishop Wood) also registered five points with two scores and three helpers. William Beck (Archbishop Ryan) and Mason Risner (Hempfield) each had two goals and two assists.

Goalie Ryley O’Keefe (Bishop Shanahan) made 13 saves as the Griffins evened their record to 4-4 on the season.
