All-South Jersey Boys’ Honorees for 2013:

Co-Players of the YearSouth Jersey boys all-Phillylacrosse.com

Jake Dean, Shawnee, Senior Midfielder
Dean, who heads to Virginia, led the Renegades to the South Jersey Group 3 championship and had the game-winner in overtime in the memorable 4-3 win. He had 50 goals and earned US Lacrosse All-American. Was a Pansini & Mezrow Phillylacrosse.com Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll First Place honoree.

Dan Willis, Moorestown, Senior Goalie
Willis, who heads to Villanova, led the Quakers to an undefeated season in the Skylands Conference and to the South Jersey Group 3 finals where they fell to Shawnee, 4-3. Willis, known for her athleticism and vocal leadership, helped Moorestown average only 4.7 goals per game and finish 16-3.

Coach of the Year

Tim Gushue, Shawnee
Gushie’s Renegades won the South Jersey Group 3 championship with a 4-3 overtime win over Moorestown. Shawnee finished 19-5, bowing to Ridgewood in the state title game. Gushue started the program in 2003 after serving as a track and field coach and his team has won the Olympic Conference division title every year. He has reached the state finals twice.

Attack

Tyler Schulte, Seneca, Senior
US Lacrosse All-American … Had 84 goals and 51 assists … Finished career with 224 goals … Led team to 20-2 record and berth in South Jersey Group 2 final.… Will play at Widener.

Tim Kemner, Kingsway, Senior
Had 58 goals and 40 assists to set school’s single-season record for points … Headed to Monmouth.

Michael Handlan, Moorestown, Junior
Had 58 goals for team that reached South Jersey Group 3 final … Committed to Delaware.

Dean DeSimone, St. Augustine Prep, Junior

Had 25 goals and 13 assists in only 13 games for 12-8 team.

Reed Hofmann, Lenape, Senior, Attackman
US Lacrosse Academic All-American … Had 45 goals and 31 assists …Scored 163 career goals.

Midfield

Matt Olbrich, Moorestown, Senior
Was dominant force at the face-off X and scored 33 goals … Headed to Delaware.

John Salemi, Lawrenceville School, Senior
First Team Mid-Atlantic Prep … Had 22 goals … Headed to Air Force Academy.

Jake Dean, Shawnee, Senior
Co-Player of the Year … US Lacrosse All-American … Had 50 goals, 18 assists, and 72 groundballs … Had game-winner in SJ Group 3 championship game win over Moorestown … Pansini & Mezrow First Team Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll pick … Headed to Virginia.

Defenseman

Nate Gorman, St. Augustine Prep, Senior
Helped the Hermits finish 12-8 … Headed to Villanova.

Connor Flannery, Shawnee, Senior
Key member of team that won South Jersey Group 3 championship … headed to Manhattan.

Brendan Handlen, Moorestown, Junior
Helped lead Moorestown to a 16-3 season and berth in South Jersey Group 3 final … Was a mainstay for a defense that yielded just 4.7 goals per game … committed to Delaware.

Bryce Young, St. Augustine Prep, Junior
Helped the Hermits finish 12-8 … Committed to Maryland.

Goalie

Dan Willis, Moorestown, Senior

Co-Player of the Year … Led Quakers to 16-3 season and berth in South Jersey Group 3 finals … Headed to Villanova.
