Marple Newtown hosted the St. Helen’s School for England last week during Spring Break.
The Tigers’ varsity won, 7-6, while the JV prevailed, 9-8, in overtime as the two teams were evenly matched throughout.
Brigid Kyne had two goals, including the game-winner in the varsity game while Joann Schmeltzer and Holly Nicolardi each scored twice. Cat Rainone had eight saves and Erica Brown led the defense while Danielle Collins had four draw controls.
The day was wrapped up with a “Philly-themed” lunch. Marple Newtown parents brought soft pretzels, TastyKakes, WaWa hoagies, Hershey’s, etc. Marple hoped to one day return the favor and visit St. Helen’s School in the UK.
