The No. 17 Cabrini men’s lacrosse team notched its fifth straight victory with a 16-6 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Gwynedd-Mercy College on Wednesday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

Senior attackman Paul Skulski (Garnet Valley HS) netted his 100th career goal in the victory.

Skulski led the Cavaliers’ offense with five points, scoring two goals and handing out three assists. Skulski deposited the milestone marker with 1:38 remaining in the third quarter, supplying Cabrini with a 12-5 advantage.

Skulski is the fifth player in program history to reach the century mark in goals, joining former Cavaliers Scott Reimer (233; 2006-09), Casey Grugan (206; 2007-10), Mike Pape (132; 2000-03) and Tom Lemieux (102; 1999-02).

Freshman attackman Matt Biegel (West Chester East) added four goals and junior attackman Brian Hill (Ridley) and sophomore attackman Bobby Thorp each recorded three points with two scores and one helper.

Junior defenseman John McSorley (Ridley) played an integral role on both sides of the midfield line, contributing three assists, while scooping a team-high six groundballs and causing a club-best seven turnovers.

Sophomore midfielder Joe Hughes (Plymouth-Whitemarsh) collected five groundballs and Hill gathered four. The Cavaliers owned a 43-32 advantage in groundballs.

The Blue & White won 13-of-25 face-off attempts. Senior Mike Gurenlian (Springfield-Delco) led the draw charge, converting 7-of-12 tries. Gurenlian’s 315 career face-off victories are just 16 shy of matching the program record owned by current assistant coach Mike Dolente.

Freshman goalkeeper Erick Zarzecki made his 29th consecutive start and turned away 10 shots for his 22nd career victory.

Sophomore midfielder Roy Bakeoven (Archbishop Ryan) and freshman midfielder Liam Malley (Lansdale Catholic) led the Griffins offense in the loss, each scoring two goals. Junior midfielder Nick Coan (Garnet Valley) also notched two points with one goal and one assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rich Zagari played nearly 54 minutes and totaled 19 saves in the loss.
