Women’s college honors: New Haven’s Magnone (V. Joseph Marie), Susquehanna’s McCann (Interboro), Bates College’s Scott (Germantown Friends)

New Haven sophomore attack Sarah Magnone (Villa Joseph Marie) has been named to the IWLCA All-North Region Division II Second Team.

Magnone led the Chargers (7-9 overall, 6-5 in Northeast-10 Conference) offense with a team-high 43 goals and 52 points. She also collected nine assists, 22 ground balls and 25 draw controls. The sophomore had a career-high five goals on three different occasions this season and had a career-high seven points vs. Assumption (4/6) and at Southern Connecticut (4/8).

Susquehann’s McCann (Interboro) earns DIII All-Region

Susquehanna University sophomore defender Brittany McCann (Interboro) landed on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s 2010 NCAA Division III all-Boardwalk Region team.

McCann was the Crusaders’ top defender this year, causing a team-high 34 turnovers and scooping up a team-high 59 ground balls. She also had nine draw controls. McCann, also a first-team Landmark Conference pick, ranked second in the Landmark in both caused turnovers and ground balls. The Landmark honored her as its women’s lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on April 26.

Bates College senior Scott (Germantown Friends) earns NESCSC honor

Bates College senior defender Emma Scott (Germantown Friends) has been named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.

Scott played in eight games this year, grabbing seven groundballs.
