Lindsay Rheiner should have no problem with the endurance tests once she reaches the U.S. Naval Academy next year to play lacrosse.
The Council Rock North senior – a standout midfielder who scored 40 goals in 2010 for a league co-champion – claimed the Class AAA Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association cross country championship Saturday at the Parkview Cross Country Course in Hershey.
Rheiner clocked in with a time of 18 minutes, 42 seconds to, outkicking Pottsville freshman Paige Stoner (18:48) and Strath Haven junior Hannah Grossman (18:49) in the homestretch.
Rheiner had solid finishes at states as a freshman and sophomore, placing 53rd and seventh, respectively. As a junior, she was sick at the District 1 meet and dropped to 94th at the state meet. She placed third in the District 1 meet last week.
Rheiner was a First Team Suburban One National Conference pick on the lacrosse field last year for an Indians team that shared the league title with Abington and went 14-2 overall.
