Olivia Gannon scored the game-winner to break a 9-9 tie and Wissahickon Lacrosse Club continued its amazing run by defeating Western Mass, 14-10, Tuesday and advancing to the semifinals of the inaugural U.S. Lacrosse National U-15 Tournament at Cedar Lane Sports Park in Bel Air, Md.

Wissahickon, seeded second in the championship round, is 5-0 after two days of action in the 30-team field. It plays Stars Gold this morning at 9 a.m. in the semifinals. The other semifinal matchup features top-seeded CheskHers 2012 (Md.) vs. Relentless Hustle.

Wissahickon had a 7-2 lead in its quarterfinal game, but Western Mass rallied to tie. Lizzie Tillger led Wissahickon with four goals and Haley Schweizer added three goals. In the Round of 16, Wissahickon scored the final four goals of the contest to topple Synergy Lacrosse, 14-10, as Emilee Ehret had four goals and two assists.

More information can be found on laxmagazinge.com where Wissahickon’s Laura Frankenfield is blogging from the tourney. Frankenfield noted that Wissahickon is a township team while most of the rest of the squads are all-star club teams.
