Jenna Pugh (Council Rock South) collected seven goals and two assists to help Penn State Abington defeat Maritime College (N.Y.), 13-7, Sunday for the first win in program history.
The first-year Lady Lions are now 1-6 while Maritime College falls to 1-5.
PSU Abington also got three goals and an assist from Jenn McCormick (St. Hubert) and two goals from Caitlin Brown (Villa Joseph Marie). Jen Mangle (St. Hubert) added one goal and goalie Jen Leybman (Central High) made six saves for the win.
Division I
Temple 12, Richmond 6
Kelsey Zenuk (Aston, St, Mark’s, DE) scored three goals and Chelsea Rosiek (Wissahickon) had two goals and three assists while Keelin Hood (Great Valley) added a pair of goals to lead the Owls (1-10) to their first win of the season in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
James Madison 14, Drexel 6
Mary Kate Lomady (Abington) and Annie Brophy (Archbishop Carroll) each had two goals while Jaime Dardine (Marple Newtown) had a goal and two assists for JMU (5-6) in the Colonial Athletic Association win. Katie Lawson and Charlotte Wood (Conestoga) each had two goals for the Dragons (7-4).
St. Josephs’ 15, Duquesne 10
Jenna Martino had five goals and Jessica Westlake scored four while Helene Tursi added three to help the Hawks (7-6) earn the Atlantic 10 victory.
St. Bonaventure 15, La Salle 10
Stefany McKee netted four goals for the Explorers (4-7) in the A-10 loss.
Maryland 17, Ohio State 16
Kelly Haggerty (Unionville) had four goals and four assists for the No. 14 Buckeyes (9-3), who nearly pulled off a major upset of the No. 2 Terps (13-0). Gabby Capuzzi (Archbishop Carroll) added a goal and an assist for OSU.
Robert Morris 18, Long Island 6
Courtney Sicinski (Downingtown West) had two goals and two assists for RM (6-6).
North Carolina 11, Penn State 7
Goalie Stephanie Ellis (Radnor) had 13 saves for the Lions (5-6) in their loss to the Tar Heels (11-2).
UMass 18, George Washington 5
Sarah Phillips (Downingtown West) had three goals and an assist and Taylor Donohue (Radnor) added a goal and an assist for GW in defeat.
Georgetown 19, UConn 8
Kelly Barnes (Radnor) and Mary Beth Brophy (Archbishop Carroll) each scored once for the Hoyas (9-3) to the Big East win.
Old Dominion 10, Towson 7
Lisa Bernardini (George School) and Ashley Kellogg (Downingtown West) each scored once and Sarah Geary (Springfield-Delco) had 19 saves as ODU (7-3) took the Colonial Athletic Association contest. Jacie Kendall (Souderton) had two goals for Towson (6-5).
Albany 17, Binghamton 11
Mel Rorie (North Penn) had three goals and an assist to help Albany (6-6).
Notre Dame 20, Louisville 8
Maggie Tamasitis (Boyertown) scored three goals for the Irish (11-2) in their Big East victory. Bergan Foley (Gwynedd Mercy Academy) scored twice for the Cards (7-4).
Syracuse 17, Loyola 10
Megan Mosenson (Great Valley) had three goals and an assist for the Orange (9-3) in the Big East.
Hofstra 12, George Mason 11
Courtney O’Connor (Abington) scored once the Pride (8-3) in the CAA win. Emily Ellisen (Great Valley) had two goals for GM (5-5).
Monmouth 21, Central Conn. State 5
Megan Brennan (Archbishop Carroll) pumped in four goals for Monmouth (6-6).
Division II
Georgian Court 15, Phila. University 9
Sarah Davis scored three goals to pace the Rams (5-5) in defeat.
Bloomsburg 17, Millersville 8
Kelsey Quigley (Methacton) pumped in five goals to help the Huskies (8-2) earn the PSAC win. Liz Weekley (Pottstown) had two goals and two assists for the Marauders (5-5).
