Garnet Valley 2017 goalie Erik Schultz has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Oberlin College.

Erik Schultz profile:

Erik Schultz
Erik Schultz

High School: Garnet Valley HS

Graduation Year: 2017

Position: Goalie

College Committed to: Oberlin College

Club affiliation: Jags Lax

Lacrosse Honors: MVP Allstar Team

Academic Honors: Nationally Merit Scholar Runner Up; Presidential Community Service Award; Ranked #9 in all of PA with my partner for Debate; #1 Debater in District 15; Officer for school’s Environmental and Recycling which does environmental service clean up for the school weekly

What will you major in/study? Law and Society

Why did you choose the school? “I chose Oberlin because of the academic prestige and thought provoking atmosphere. My ultimate goal is to attend law school and I feel that attending a well respected school and getting a great education is a good starting point to end up in a top tier law school. Oberlin encourages students to actively share ideas and thoughts without fear of the societal norms, this appreciation for independent thought is extremely attractive to me because I feel that the best ideas come from the unregulated mind. I truly cannot wait to be surrounded by innovators and thinkers of all kinds.”

HS team’s outlook for 2017 season? “This is the year that Jags Lax has been waiting for: the Class of 2017. We have the best players in the game at every position this year; no doubt we will give any team a good battle this Spring.”

Thank You: “Thank you to my Dad for attending all of my games and practices and driving me to all my tournaments. Thank you to Coach Snow, all the hard work taught me how to be the best. Thank you to all coaches and players for teaching me something about the game either while playing or at practice. Finally, thank you Oberlin for giving me the opportunity to attend your school and represent both on the field and in the classroom.”

Other schools considered: Swarthmore, Haverford, Kenyon
