The Rosemont College Athletic Department has named Sue B. Wolfgang-Dotsey as the new head coach of the women’s lacrosse team.
Wolfgang-Dotsey’s move to Rosemont comes after serving as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Philadelphia University for the 2011-2012 season. Prior to her collegiate coaching experience she served as Head Coach of the at the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy from 2009-2011, steering a new program to the playoffs in her first year.
Dotsey began her lacrosse coaching career at West Potomac High School (Alexandria, VA) in 1999 and was a private lacrosse instructor from 2003-2010. Wolfgang-Dotsey also coached at Upper Perkiomen High School in 2003.
When asked about where her focus will be coming into the Rosemont Women’s Lacrosse program, Wolfgang-Dotsey proffered her coaching philosophy as “building a cohesive unit, through community service, team building, working towards delivering an ‘all-around student-athlete,’ and living lacrosse on and off the field.” From the outset, Dotsey said that she wants to “create a strong and cohesive unit, stressing fundamentals and basics.”
Coach Dotsey aims to mold the program so that her charges are “team-minded” and will strive to improve the team by “working on coming together, building a team atmosphere” which will create the environment that will “lead to improvement.”
A two-sport athlete (lacrosse and soccer), Sue played women’s lacrosse for ten years, from starting in middle school through her undergraduate years at Old Dominion University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Sport Management in 1999. In high school her teams fashioned an overall record of 57-1.
She was named captain of the lacrosse team and won the team’s Most Valuable Player award in her senior year. She was also named to the CAA All-Conference team that year. During her playing years at Old Dominion the team were ranked in the Top 10 nationally.
She currently resides in Havertown, Pa. with her husband and two daughters.
