Dale Watkins, who previously enjoyed successful stints as coach at West Chester East and Bayard Rustin, has been named head girls’ lacrosse coach at Kennett.
Watkins’ hiring was passed last week at a school board meeting.
He last coached in 2008 when he led Bayard Rustin to the finals of the District 1 Class AAA tournament where the Golden Knights fell to Radnor. He had a two-year mark of 36-6 at Rustin, starting the program in 2007.
Before that time, he coached WC East from 2001-06, leading the Patriots to the District 1 finals in 2006 and posting a record of 84-27-1. His Vikings were 56-9 in his last three seasons.
Watkins also coached boys’ lacrosse at West Chester East as an assistant from the 1970s-90s and was a girls’ assistant at Henderson from 1998-2000.
