McDonogh School (MD) is the LaxPower High School Girls’ Lacrosse National Champion for 2011.

LaxPower, the world’s leading authority on lacrosse team performance ratings, is pleased to announce the National Coaches/Computer Ratings for high school girls’ lacrosse for the recently completed 2011 season.

The Eagles, who capped off a 19-0 season by winning their third consecutive IAAM-A title, finished in first place both in the coaches’ poll and in the computer ratings. McDonogh had 10 of 12 first-place votes among the coaches. This is the seventh season in a row that they have finished in the Top 10. Garden City (21-0) garnered 2 first-place votes after winning their 6th consecutive (Class B) and 12th overall New York championship.

McDonogh and Garden City have run their unbeaten streaks to 51 and 48 consecutive games, respectively. Rounding out the top programs in the country for 2011 are four perennial powers:

#2: Garden City, Garden City, New York (21-0) — New York Class B state champion
#3: St. Anthony’s, South Huntington, New York (16-2) — CHSAA Class AA champion
#4: Bryn Mawr SG, Baltimore, Maryland (16-3)
#5: Northport, Northport, New York (20-2) — New York Class A state champion

For PA teams, Downingtown East was No. 8 and PIAA champion Garnet Valley was No. 16.

The final rankings were compiled using LaxPower’s CCR rating formula, which combines the national computer rankings with a national poll. The computer ratings used for the rankings are based on over 19,200 game scores for 2,583 high school teams. The poll is a product of rankings by 12 high school coaches from around the country. Each of these parameters represents 50% of the final tallied results.

2011 National Rankings for High School Girls’ Lacrosse

LaxPower congratulates these teams and their players and coaches for an outstanding achievement in 2011 as well as all of the coaches and student-athletes who participated in high school lacrosse this past spring.
