The Philadelphia Wings announced today that they will cease operations “under the Comcast Spectacor portfolio” following the 2025-2026 season, calling the move “not an easy conclusion to make and is one we considered with great care.”
One of 14 teams in the National Lacrosse League, the Wings have struggled in recent seasons and are 4-12, and already out of playoff contention with two games left.
The Wings are in their second stint as a franchise in Philadelphia. They were one of the four original teams in the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League, which launched in 1987. The league was renamed the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in 1989 and then the National Lacrosse League (NLL) in 1998.
The Wings relocated to Uncasville, CT, in 2014 and were renamed the New England Black Wolves. They were re-established in 2017 as a new expansion team and returned to play in 2018.
The Wings have the most titles in the league’s combined history with six in all.
Their final game will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, against the Vancouver Warriors at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
